Frequently Asked Questions

Here are answers to the questions we hear most often about downloading, licensing, and using the free SVG and DXF files at SVG Design Factory.

What is SVG Design Factory?

SVG Design Factory is a free library of SVG and DXF cut files made for crafters, makers, and small business owners. Our designs are built to work with tools like Cricut, Silhouette, and Glowforge, as well as laser cutters, vinyl plotters, and sublimation and wall-art projects. You can start looking around on our browse page.

Are the files really free?

Yes. Every file in our library is genuinely free to download. There is no paid tier, no per-file charge, and no hidden fee to unlock a design later. The site is supported by ads, which is what lets us keep the downloads free for everyone.

Can I use these files commercially?

Yes. All of our files are free for both personal and commercial use. You are welcome to use them in projects for your small business, including items you sell at craft fairs, in local shops, or through your own online store. You can read the full terms on our license page.

Do I have to give credit or attribution?

No attribution is required. You do not need to credit SVG Design Factory, link back to us, or mention where you found the design. That said, if you enjoy our files, telling other crafters about us is always appreciated.

What file formats do you offer?

Our primary format is SVG, which is a scalable vector file that works in most crafting and design software. Many designs also include a DXF version, which is handy for programs and machines that prefer that format. We do not currently offer PNG, EPS, or PDF versions of our designs.

How do I download a design?

Find a design you like on our browse page or through search, open it, and use the download button. The file will save to your device, ready to import into your cutting or design software.

Why do I need to enter my email to download?

We use a one-time email gate. You enter your email address once to unlock the whole library, and after that your downloads are unlimited with no further sign-ups. The email step helps us reduce automated abuse and lets us share occasional updates about new designs. We do not sell your address to third parties.

What kinds of things can I make with these files?

Just about anything a cut file supports. Crafters use our designs for vinyl decals, T-shirts and apparel, tumblers and mugs, wood and acrylic signs, layered paper art, greeting cards, ornaments, stencils, and more. Browsing categories like animal, floral, and holiday is a good way to find project ideas.

How do I use an SVG in Cricut Design Space?

Open Cricut Design Space, start a new project, and choose the Upload option. Select the SVG file you downloaded from us, add it to your canvas, and it is ready to size, cut, or customize. SVG files keep their shapes and layers, so they import cleanly without needing to be traced.

Are your files compatible with Silhouette and Glowforge?

Yes. Silhouette Studio can import SVG files (the DXF versions are also useful there), and Glowforge accepts SVG files directly for cutting and engraving. Because our files are true vector designs, they scale to any size without losing quality on either machine.

Can I sell the products I make with your files?

Yes. You are free to sell the finished physical products you create, such as shirts, mugs, signs, and decals. There is no limit on how many items you can make and sell, and no royalty or licensing fee is owed to us.

Can I resell or share the files themselves?

No. While you can sell the finished products you make, you may not resell or redistribute the raw digital files. That includes uploading our designs to other marketplaces or file-sharing sites as-is, bundling them for sale, or giving the files away as your own. Please point friends to our site to download their own copies instead.

Can I use these designs for print on demand?

Yes. You may use our designs to create products through print-on-demand services, since this counts as making finished physical products. The one rule to remember is that the design must be part of a finished product; you cannot upload the raw file itself for others to download.

Are your designs original and safe from trademark issues?

Yes. Our designs are original artwork created for this library. They are not based on trademarked brands, logos, or licensed characters, which helps keep your own projects on the safe side. As always, you are responsible for how you use a design, so avoid adding trademarked elements of your own.

How often do you add new designs?

We add new designs regularly. You can check the new uploads page to see the latest additions or the popular page to see what other crafters are downloading most.

How do I unsubscribe from your emails?

Every email we send includes an unsubscribe link at the bottom. Click it and you will be removed from the list. Unsubscribing does not affect your downloads, so you can keep using the library either way.

Can I request a specific design?

We love hearing what our community wants to make. While we cannot promise to fill every request, we do take suggestions into account when planning new designs. Send us your idea through our contact page.

How do I report a problem with a file?

If a file will not open, cuts incorrectly, or seems broken in some way, please let us know so we can fix it. Reach out through our contact page with the design name and a short description of the issue, and we will look into it.
